“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.” – James 1:6 (NKJV)
I challenge you to “wait well” instead of just waiting.
As you wait for God to answer your prayers, have you considered if you are waiting well? Are you waiting in fear? Are you waiting with anxiety? Are you waiting in doubt? Those things are really the opposite of what God would consider waiting well.
What does waiting well really mean? James 1:6 says to ask with belief. When we go to God in prayer, we must be bold and brave in our petitions, knowing with certainty that if we ask according to His will, He will be faithful to us.
Do you know what we need to do as we wait? We must find ways to honour and glorify God. Don’t focus on what you do not have and what you’re waiting for to the extent that you become unappreciative of all God has blessed you with. Blessings that you could use in service of His Kingdom instead of feeling downcast and wondering when it would be your turn. This is easier said than done in this microwave world of social media, a world that encourages us to compare our timelines with others with just a click.
Look at yourself, and analyse if any adjustments need to be made from waiting to waiting well. This will be different for each one of us. You can use your worship to give others hope. You can use your voice to uplift and encourage others, journaling, reading, studying, or any other ways to be a light. You will discover that the more you pour yourself into positive things, it takes away from the time of anxiety, worry, or overthinking.
So, whatever you are waiting for today: be it a spouse, a child, a job, a house, healing, or anything that might be your heart’s desire, be encouraged and wait well. May your spirit be uplifted.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, forgive us for worrying and overthinking. We choose to wait well as we continue to be strong and take heart. Our whole being waits on You, Lord. We put our trust and hope in You. May we shine brightly for the world, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
